Terrible Twins is a certified B Corp

We have travelled around the world all our lives. Often we have met people struggling for their survival in different ways, and when we started the limited company in 2006, we decided to use our business to help others and do what we can to drive positive change in the world.

We want to be clear that Terrible Twins is not a charity, not at all. It is a for-profit business that we make our living from. We also have employees who make a living working for us, suppliers who make a living selling to us and customers who make a living selling our products. We will not settle for anything less than a livelihood for everyone in the value chain, but not at the expense of the planet or other people.

The principle that our business should not be at the expense of the planet or other people sometimes means we need to make financially uncomfortable decisions, but we firmly believe that taking responsibility throughout the chain makes the company stronger and more resilient. The global textile industry requires huge amounts of resources and is responsible for both the exploitation of people and major pollution of our natural environment. Sometimes we ask ourselves how we can even talk about sustainability while operating in such a dirty industry, but if we can drive consumption to only buy what you really need and make sure those products last a long time and are responsibly produced at every step, we believe the Terrible Twins can be a positive force.

For this reason, we became a certified B Corp already in 2021. Together with other B Corps, we try to show that it is possible to drive positive change through entrepreneurship.

B Corp

A B Corp certification shows that the company fulfils very high standards of performance, responsibility and transparency regarding the environment and human rights throughout the value chain. That’ s exactly what we’ re trying to do in our company, and there is incredible strength in doing it together with other B Corps.

B Corp is relatively new in Sweden, but has a long history in the US. We were one of the first companies in Sweden to be certified.

The certification involves a thorough analysis of the entire company. To remain certified, each B Corp is audited every three years, which means we need to constantly develop our business and never lose our compass. Our recertification is therefore taking place now, in 2024.

Are you curious about what it means to use your business to drive positive change?
